Very Exciting News!

The Embroiderers Guild has published my book "Dreams of Amarna - Stitching An Egyptological Adventure". It is available for purchase through their webshop.

The project "Dreams of Amarna" is a twenty five year tale of development with needle and brush, an exploration of the variety of inspiration available even from the smallest of seeds. The book offers an invitation to explore the growth of creativity in conversation with the art and archaeology of ancient Egypt.

Join me on my adventure threading ideas through time, as I reimagine ancient Egyptian art and history in embroidery and paint. Inspired by the adventures and discoveries of the archaeologists and excavators of 1920s Egypt, so delightfully chronicled by Mary Chubb, I have sought to tell their stories in stitch.

Praise for the Book

Don't just take my word for it...!

"‘Rachel has produced a beautiful and inspiring book, telling the story of a forgotten archaeological dig through meticulous research and her own extraordinary artistic skills."

Photograph of an embroidery depicting faience beads from a necklace. The embroidery uses glossy flat silk thread, and the stitches are chosen to help bring to mind not just the beads, but the fruits and flowers that inspired them.

"You don’t have to know anything about ancient Egypt to enjoy this delightful and unusual book. I was fascinated by the story of Mary Chubb and the excavation at Amarna, so beautifully illustrated by Rachel’s embroidery and watercolours."
